Mind Your Bees
You may have seen them across social media by now, as they’re gaining popularity in the city – and no wonder, they’re eco-friendly, non-toxic, reusable and made right here in Hamilton.
So what are they?
Mind Your Bees food wraps are the eco-friendly replacement to traditional cling wrap. They are washable, green, and able to package or wrap everything from containers, to sliced fruit and veggies, to herbs. They are a malleable, bendable cotton fabric that is covered in a layer of beeswax, jojoba oil and pine resin, giving them a delicious smelling scent.
Ashley of Mind Your Bees sent some of the food wraps over for me to sample and I am so glad she did! The small package comes with three wraps in three different sizes, and matching patterns. (All the packages have different patterns, so you can choose the one that’s best suited to your home). They are also available in a variety of sizes to suit your needs.
Mind Your Bees food wraps can be found at local shops like Lulu and Lavigne on Locke Street, The Casual Gourmet, or on their website
Still not sold? Traditional, single-use cling wrap is made of a variety of plastics, the most popular material being polyvinyl chloride, a non-recyclable product (full of chemicals, I might add) that ends up either in landfills, as litter on land, or in the sea.
In comparison, Mind your Bees are reusable, washable and once their life span ends they act as a fire starter and can be easily burned. No eco impact!
