Loaded Pierogi Opens in Hamilton

Latest restaurant in the Hamilton food scene is Loaded Pierogi, a popular Toronto small-chain restaurant (with this being their fifth location and another on the way) that has opened in the Bar Izakaya space on James Street North.

The interior hasn’t changed too much from the previous decor, apart from the addition of the circular Loaded Pierogi logo on the wall and the large chalk board signs at the back of the restaurant with their menu options.

Light streams in the large windows onto the warm wood tables as you make your choice for lunch, dinner, or anything in between.

At Loaded Pierogi all the savoury options start with a classic potato and onion dumpling. From there, you get to go for either crispy, boiled or half and half. I recommend half and half for a bit of variety and more texture to the dish. Delish!

Once you choose your base pierogi option, you get to choose your toppings. Pick from 16+ pre-selected topping options, like Butter Chicken (Authentic butter chicken sauce with slow roasted chicken breast, caramelized onions, habanero cheddar, sour cream & green onions) , Cabbage Patch Kid (Crispy fried brussel sprouts, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, sun dried tomatoes, creamy ranch dressing, sour cream & green onions) and many more. Alternatively, you can choose add-on toppings as you see fit. While there, I chose the Roast Chicken and Avocado Club (Roasted chicken breast, bacon, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cheddar cheese, creamy ranch dressing, sour cream & green onions). I was impressed with the amount that came on the dish; eight pierogi, plus the large amount of toppings made for a meal with good value. Ms. Piggy is pictured below.

If you’re more of a sweet fan rather than savoury, they also have dessert pierogi! They are always served crispy version and you can choose from either Sweet Apple and Caramel (shown below) or Strawberry and Chocolate.

Wetting your whistle is made easy at loaded pierogi as well, with their vodka flights and creative vodka cocktails, which pair wonderfully with the Eastern European dumplings.
